Network Administrator

Also known as: Network Engineer/Specialist Network Administrator, Network Analyst or Computer Network and Systems Engineer

About the Role

Network Administrators design, install, configure and monitor the computer hardware and software systems that make up a computer network.

Networks can range from local-area networks in one building, to wide-area networks connecting multiple offices or systems (including mobile) across town or across the world.

Education Options

  • NZ Diploma in Networking (Level 6) (More info at NZQA)

  • NZ Diploma in Systems Administration (Level 6) (More info at NZQA)

  • Highly specialized Network Engineers may have a Bachelor or Masters Degree

Relevant Professional Certification

  • CompTIA Network+

  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
